Fibre Channel Adapters for PMC/PCI & Data Recorder

The VMFC-4312 is an advanced Fibre Channel PMC for real-time networking. This Fibre Channel adapter incorporated the following features:

  • Supports 2Gb/s non-blocking fiber networks
  • Full switched fabric support utilizing COTS Fibre Channel infrastructure
  • Support for legacy Fibre Channel equipment and protocols in heterogeneous networks
  • Full set of drivers for fast real-time networking and disk access
  • Adapter with fast local data buffering to avoid system bottlenecks
  • Internal PCI-X segment turns “data pulls” into “data push” for unprecedented performance
  • Local buffer Memory can be PCI target

The VMFC-4312 Fibre Channel PMC is ideal for applications such as:

  • Radar and Sonar system signal networking
  • Video signal networks
  • Loose interconnect for distributed real-time signal processing architectures
  • Redundant networking for resilience against cracks in infrastructure

The VMFC-2300 is the fourth generation Fibre Channel Adapter from VMETRO, available in PMC and PCI form factors. It utilizes the award winning Fibre Channel architecture from Qlogic using the ISP23xx series controller chips that manage full duplex communication sustaining 200 MBytes/sec in both directions at the same time. The VMFC-2300 series are 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI, 2 Gigabit per second Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters. Together with the software supported by VMETRO it is targeted specifically at Real-Time applications such as high-speed recorders and peer-to-peer communications typically used in radars, sonars, imaging and quality inspection systems.

The VMFC-2230 Fibre Channel Adapter is available in PMC and PCI form factors and is specifically designed to maximize throughput while minimizing transfer latency and host processor overhead in embedded real-time applications. In addition to mainstream Fibre Channel applications such as disk storage, this interface is particularly well suited to applications where low latency communications and high sustained throughput are essential. This includes areas such as multi-processor communications (telecom & radar signal processing), sensor I/O (radar, sonar & image processing), and ultra-high performance computer networks (digital broadcasting & subsystem to subsystem data links). The high-speed, on-chip RISC processor and high-level software interface enable the controller to complete multiple I/O operations without host intervention.
